Is an SMSF right for you?

During this seminar, we will cover an overview of SMSFs, the pros and cons of SMSFs, an explanation of how they work and your obligations and responsibilities as a trustee. We will also cover some basic SMSF strategies.

Getting the most out of your SMSF
This session is directed towards existing SMSF trustees and assumes a reasonable working knowledge of superannuation law and the rules relating to SMSFs. We examine a number of different tax effective strategies and also explore some of the unique opportunities available to you, as an SMSF trustee.

Borrowing in Super-Tips &Traps
Borrowing to invest within superannuation is becoming an increasingly popular strategy – however the rules of borrowing in super are quite different to those outside of it. This session will help you understand the advantages and disadvantages of borrowing in super, as well as the legislative requirements and restrictions that apply. You will gain insight into how the rules work, obtain a number of valuable tips and strategies, and learn how to avoid the common pitfalls.

Estate Planning Strategies
SMSFs can assist you in passing your wealth onto your beneficiaries, in a tax effective way. This session looks at several strategies to help minimise the tax burden for your beneficiaries. We will cover with some basic concepts, such as the pros and cons of the different death benefit nominations you can make, as well as the use of reversionary pensions. We will then go on to explore some more advanced strategies (such as quarantining the different tax components, operating multiple pension accounts, cash out and re-contribution strategies and the availability and use of anti-detriment payments).
